Professor Ghosh will focus on the history of the peace process between India and Pakistan, as well as recent developments and the possible effects of Pakistani flooding on negotiations. Her talk will be followed by a moderated student panel discussion with representatives from the Society for India, Cornell India Association, Pakistani Students' Association, Islamic Alliance for Justice, and MECA. "Peace Postponed?" aims to provide an engaging, comprehensive, and academic foundation for campus dialogue on the critical issue of India-Pakistan relations; you will not want to miss this special event. Co-sponsored by: Student Assembly & SA Public Service Committee, Alpha Delta Phi, Classes of 2012, 2013, and 2014 Councils, Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, ILR Global Affairs Club Suhoors and and Campus Iftaar OptionsWe hope that all of you have returned safely to Cornell and are now excited for classes to begin this Wednesday. Starting tomorrow, Carl Becker House on West Campus will be providing free suhoors (early morning meals) everyday in the dining hall area. We are grateful to Becker house dean Cindy Hazan, head chef Chef Eileen and the entire Becker staff for making this arrangement possible. The suhoors will take place from 4 AM until the break of dawn (approximately 5 AM these days) and will be followed by Fajr prayers. We hope that you all will join us, especially the new undergraduate freshman and transfer students, for MECA's traditional "suhoor pancakes"! As the semester starts, things will get busy and hectic. If you can't make it to MECA's iftaars at Anabel Taylor Hall, there are other dining options available on campus. Robert Purcell Marketplace Eatery is open until 8:30pm every day, and Cook House Dining Room is open until 8:30pm as well Monday through Thursday. In addition, 104West has been kind enough to extend it's dining hours from 8:00pm to 9:30pm until September 10th to celebrate the month of Ramadan with us. If you get the opportunity, please attend one of their Ramadan dinners and show them our appreciation. |
